Cultivate Music Close to Home



Snoqualmie Strings is a youth symphony program for school-aged kids playing strings instruments of violin, viola, cello or bass. 

Directed & led by local professional musicians, Snoqualmie Strings gives beginning and advancing players a place to play with peers, expanding their repertoire in a variety of genres for local events and venues.

Audition Requirements
 
In addition to observing the level of difficulty each student is capable of playing, we will be evaluating tone, technique, and sight-reading ability.
 
Youth Orchestra
  • Be prepared to play a current solo piece, Suzuki books 1-3 or equivalent  **PLEASE PROVIDE A COPY OF YOUR MUSIC FOR THE ADJUDICATORS!**
  • Play one octave scales in the keys of A Major, C Major, and F Major (or as many of these as you can successfully play in tune) ascending and descending.  Be prepared to play each slowly (one note per bow) and fast (four notes per bow)
  • Sight-read a passage of our choosing
 Chamber Orchestra
  • Be prepared to play a current solo piece, Suzuki book 4 or higher, or equivalent  **PLEASE PROVIDE A COPY OF YOUR MUSIC FOR THE ADJUDICATORS!**
  • Play a two- or three- octave scale in a key of your choosing,  including higher positions, ascending and descending.  Be prepared to play it slowly (two-three notes per bow) and fast (eight-twelve notes per bow)
  • Sight-read a passage of our choosing
